TV tonight: 'Bones, 'Dallas,' '90210'
Posted January 27, 2013
Bones | Fox, 8 ET/PT
While Bones has often played the relationship between Dr. Sweets (John Francis Daley) and his squint girlfriend Daisy (Carla Gallo) for laughs, their breakup earlier this season was very sweetly handled - and was one of the couple's most genuine moments. Tonight, however, Daisy is back for the first time since the break. We'll see how sweet she's feeling.
Dallas | TNT, 9 ET/PT
If, as a fan of the late Larry Hagman, you're planning to turn to TNT's returning Dallas reboot to watch his last few episodes, you may want to keep a few things in mind. On the plus side for fans, Hagman's J.R. continues to play a pivotal part as the mastermind behind most of his son John Ross' plots. (Good luck convincing an audience that Josh Henderson's dirt-dull John Ross is capable of coming up with an idea of his own once his father is gone, but that's a problem for another day.) But while it's a crucial role, it's also a very small one, meaning most of your time will be spent watching one of TV's weaker ensembles stumble through some of its most preposterous, melodramatic plots, full of those kind of "surprise twists" that are surprising only because no actual human beings would ever behave in such a manner. While that may not stop a devoted Hagman fan from watching this tepid remake, his memory, and your time, would be better served by revisiting the original.
90210 | CW, 9 ET/PT
For what may be, by conservative estimate, the two millionth time, a TV show is doing a twist on It's a Wonderful Life. This go-round, Annie (Shenae Grimes) imagines what life would have been like had she never come to Beverly Hills.
